I’ve mentioned it many times, but I like to start my day
with a little inspiration. A chapter of a good inspiring book and a daily
devotional always set the pace for the rest of my day. On the days we have
errands and I don’t have time to start like this, I notice.
I like to also make sure my kids get a Bible story every
day. We are working through a Bible story collection but we switch it up with a
few simpler Bible story books they have as well.
I have heard really great things about Jesus Calling and
Jesus Today, and about the kids versions too. I was super excited to try out
Jesus Today by Sarah Young with my monkeys.
I initially bristled when I opened it up and saw that the
other wrote this book from Jesus’ perspective. I wasn’t sure I liked the idea
of someone putting words into Jesus’ mouth. I was pleasantly surprised by it
though and have so far felt like it was just fine.
The devotional is full of scripture and inspiring quotes,
which I love. It does not have any illustrations inside. This is no big deal
for older kids but my two-year-old is on a “lemme see dose peektures!” kick.
Overall I would say this is a great devotional for
parents and children to do together. The daily passages are short so I think
they’re great to read at breakfast time to set the tone for the day, even if
your kid prefers books with peektures. I recommend this book for little to big
kids, not necessarily toddlers.

Thanks so much for your comments! I always read them, don't always have time to answer quickly. Sorry about that!
