And so it begins. We like the year-round school schedule so today is the first official day of homeschool kindergarten.

I have been excited about this day and preparing for this day for what feels like a long time. I am sad it came so quickly but I’m excited for all that lies ahead for us.

I’d give almost anything to go back in time and look at his face for the first time again… but I also can’t wait to see him learn to read.

I’d love to rock his six-pound body in my arms one more time… but I also can’t wait to make homemade volcanoes together.

I wish I could savor that sweet gummy smile or watch him take his first steps again… but I also can’t wait to read birthday cards he’s inscribed without help or see the delight on his face when he figures out a math problem that’s had him stumped.

I have loved this journey and it breaks my heart some days to see how quickly it has melded into the next stage… but I am so grateful for every minute I’ve gotten so far and I am so grateful for every minute I have up ahead.

Thanks so much for your comments! I always read them, don't always have time to answer quickly. Sorry about that!
