Recent Homeschool Favorites

My family just watched this wolf documentary and everyone loved it... except me. I thought it was sad and got up to go make lunch early instead of watching. But the kids have been devouring wolf books (this and this are their clear favorites) and playing wolfpack pretend games ever since.

Awaking Wonder by Sally Clarkson... This homeschool book, by my beloved doesn't-know-she's-my-mentor Sally Clarkson, aligns so perfectly with my new home education philosophy. I am a little too structured by nature and I never want to suck the enjoyment out of learning for my kids so I've been very focused this year on bringing more space for wonder and excitement into our lessons. This book gives so many wonderful pointers for making that happen and, as I say with every Sally Clarkson book I read, I can't recommend it enough.

A is, at least in his short young life so far, a lifelong dinosaur learner. We just read two great articles this week, one from Arizona and one from Canada

B loves her Dash into Learning and The Good and the Beautiful books for early readers but we recently borrowed this Bob Books set from our library. She likes her other sets better but it's been nice to switch it up!

I recently got the chance to check out Dawn Chandler by Eliza Noel and thought it was such a fun book for middle grade girls! Dawn's life is changing fast because her family is uprooting their public school Fresno life and moving to tiny Lone Pine where they'll be homeschooling. Dawn is naturally a little skeptical and has to work through some friendship struggles along the way... but the book is wholesome, family-oriented, and has a very cute cover.

My mom recently sent us an Adventures in Odyssey US history set and everyone is so excited to start listening soon!

One of the best audio books I've listened to all year was The Call of the Wild + Free by Ainsley Arment. Oh, this book! This is probably my very favorite homeschool book so far.

A few of the goodies we're currently reading: Love Does for Kids and Indescribable as morning devotionals // The Big Book of Birds for science // Baldy the American Eagle as a read-aloud

Thanks so much for your comments! I always read them, don't always have time to answer quickly. Sorry about that!
