Homeschool Science- Geology

We had such a great time studying rocks. Here's what worked for us!

Books: Indescribable (quite a few rock devotions, especially when we added in space-themed rocks too!) // Let's Rock: Science Adventures with Rudie the Origami Dinosa // A Rock is Lively (favorite by far) // 20 Fun Facts about Rocks and Gem // Geology Lab for Kids // The Street Beneath my Feet

Exploring rocks outside and then trying to identify them with the books! We don't have any igneous rocks out here so my father-in-law in Arizona picked a few up on a hike and mailed them to us. (Name something more homeschooly than asking your in-laws to mail you a rock native to their area 😂)

Movies: Bill Nye the Science Guy: Rocks & Soil // Caves // Fossils

National Geographic geodes kit... This was definitely a hit. It's for ages 8+ but I actually couldn't get the geodes to break open so after I tried for about 30 minutes we put it away until Dad was home. It took him a good 15 minutes too but it was still an enjoyable activity!

Thanks so much for your comments! I always read them, don't always have time to answer quickly. Sorry about that!
