Picture books we borrowed from the library last week

Baby Bear Counts One by Ashley Wolff... A baby bear asks his mama bear what different sounds and sensations in the woods are, then counts the items up to ten. Cute, fun, and my littlest loved the bear illustrations.

Cindy Ellen: A Wild Western Cinderella by Susan Lowell... I tend to really enjoy fractured fairy tales and fairy tale retellings  This one was cute but a little too long to hold my four-year-old's attention.

The Old Woman Who Named Things by Cynthia Rylant... I love Cynthia Ryland books So it was not a surprise that this one captivated my heart period this is about an old woman who has outlived all of her friends and has named her car, her home, her chair, etc since she does not fear that she will outlive them. She refuses to name a little dog who keeps coming around for food because she is fearful of losing him dot dot dot I feel like this description makes it sound depressing but it is a really sweet book with a happy ending and brightly colored illustrations period

Rescue and Jessica: A Life- Changing Friendship by Jessica Kensky... This is a story about a girl and her new guide dog. My kids are really fascinated by the concept of guide dogs and enjoyed this one. If you choose to read on in the author's note at the end you see that this is a story about a woman who lost her legs in the Boston Marathon bombing. However, you can skip that note all together and this story is gentle enough that it was not stressful for my sensitive little one.

Secrets I Know by Kellie George... very short and simple, occasionally a little bit profound.

Thanks so much for your comments! I always read them, don't always have time to answer quickly. Sorry about that!
