9 recent audio books

I'm switching back to an older style flip phone soon so I'm soaking up the one and only thing I'll really miss- audio books! The next audio book post will likely be my last of this sort.

Deadline... This one is so full of the spiritual world! I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this book because the last book I read by this author is a nonfiction book on Heaven. We certainly see Heaven come into play in this book as well but there is also a clock-is-ticking feel to the murder investigation that really had me compelled. You should be aware that there is a lot of talk of abortion in this book

The Harbinger... this one was such a fascinating read for me! The author has done a lot of research on biblical prophecy in regards to America and the fall of America, especially starting with 9/11. This book is chock full of that information, but presented as a fiction in which a journalist in New York is explaining his encounter with a prophet and all that it led him to uncover. My husband and I are hoping to watch the movie version together soon.

The Promise of Dawn... this was my first Lorraine Snelling read and I look forward to reading more of her books in the future. This is about a family leaving their home in Norway to homestead in Minnesota, I want to say in 1909. Our heroine is pregnant through the majority of the novel. The family they have come to live with is very grumpy and there is a lot to unpack there. I thought this was a great read and plan to read the next three in the series.

On This Holy Night... I listened to this collection of Christmas essays because I wanted to be able to talk about more Christmas books on this year's Christmas episode of the podcast. Some essays resonated with me more than others of course but overall I liked this one.

Aftermath... This is one of the 2022 Christy Award finalists so I was excited to sneak it in before the winners are announced. This one is about a bombing at a concert which reminded me a lot of the Vegas shootings a few years back. I was very invested in the characters but it was a bit hard on me. Overall I would say it is a good read but you should go into it prepared if you're a sensitive reader.

Naomi's Gift... Amish fiction is not one of my go-to genres but I do enjoy it from time to time. This was a short and sweet Christmas Story fans of Amish romance fiction will enjoy.

Bless Your Heart, Rae Sutton... this one has more of a "chick lit" feel to it but is deeper than your typical chick lit read. Set in Alabama, this one has so much fun Southern life in it. Rae Sutton's husband has cheated on and divorced her, and now her mother has died. Rae has inherited her mother's home and is starting a new life for herself in her old hometown. She joins her mother's ministry group and watches her life change in many ways.

Under the Tulip Tree... this historical fiction was a five-star read for me. This is the story of a young lady from a well-to-do family who lost everything in the Great depression. She takes a journalist job interviewing former slaves despite that not being appropriate for a girl of her social status, at least in her mother's eyes. The interviews of course got painful to read but I felt that the author did a really good job here. My sensitive heart never felt like quitting. I want to say so many things but I also don't want to say anything that will spoil even a bit of this beautiful book. I'll just say again that it was a five-star read for me, how about that?

The View from Rainshadow Bay... I did like this suspense novel but it felt similar to the Rock Harbor series in a lot of ways and the characters didn't really grab me as much. I don't think I will read book two of this series.

Thanks so much for your comments! I always read them, don't always have time to answer quickly. Sorry about that!
