Being Baxters (Christian, middle grade)... Loved this next installment in Karen Kingsbury's children's version of the Baxter family books! I believe it's the last one... But I hope not!

The Bible Recap* by Tara-Leigh Cobble (Christian, nonfiction, Bible study resource)... This is meant to be read after you finish a Bible reading you need clarification on. I won't ever be reading it cover-to-cover but I appreciated being able to read a short recap after my morning studies (currently in the book of Samuel) and will definitely be utilizing it in the future!

Bloodhounds, Inc #1: The Ghost of KRZY (Christian, middle grade)... Fun, reminds me of a lot of fun mystery stories I read when I was 10-12 years old. My ten-year-old enjoyed it, too.

The Door in the Dragon's Throat (Christian, middle grade)... This was quite a thrill ride. I knew my son would love it and sure enough, he was raving about it just a few hours after I had handed it to him.

Fireflies in December (Christian, fiction)... This was a bit gritty, a good deal of racism (+ an instance of the n word, if I recall) violence and some unwated sexual tension directed at a 13-year-old, but oh man it was SO GOOD! Set in small-town 1930s Virginia and I could have sworn I was there! I look forward to reading the next two!

God's Guest List (Christian, nonfiction)... This book really inspired me to conside the people who have inspired me and the ways I can be a person who inspires.

Heaven is Here (Mormon, memoir)... This was a very powerful memoir by a blogger I've been enjoying. Beautifully done! She does talk often about intimacy with her husband so I wouldn't recommend it for teens.

Hinds' Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard (Christian, fiction, allegory)... I have heard great things but only just finally read this one. Wonderful! I have the pretty illustrated version and what a treat!

Jasmine Green Rescues: A Piglet Called Truffle (secular, middle grade)... Very cute animal rescue book, the first in a series. Jasmine is dishonest/deceitful to rescue the piggy and it isn't really addressed/corrected but the book was otherwise fine so we just discussed it.

* I received a free copy of The Bible Recap in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks so much for your comments! I always read them, don't always have time to answer quickly. Sorry about that!
