Autumn Leaves... my kids were so inspired by this one! This was a really fun one to read when we first got our property. We read the book, went for a nature walk and collected leaves, came back to figure out what trees those leaves belonged to, and then made some pretty leaf rubbings out of them.
Autumn Story... these Brambly Hedge books are such a sweet delight to us. Whimsical illustrations and lovely writing about a little mouse village in the woods. The whole collection is wonderful and I have it all in one book called The Complete Brambly Hedge but the autumn story is just as delightful all on its own.
Autumn Visitors... I don't remember this book very well aside from the gorgeous cover but I do remember that my little bear lover flipped through it multiple times a day before it was due back at the library.
God Bless Our Fall... this is for your youngest picture book readers. This one is just short, sweet, simple rhymes complete with sweet and adorable fuzzy baby animals.
God Gave Us Thankful Hearts... we love this series of polar bear books by Lisa Tawn Bergren but this one is slightly different since it focuses on a wolf family instead of the usual polar bear family. I love all of them and my favorite is God Gave Us the World but illustration-wise this one is my favorite. I just love all the autumn coziness. We read this one around Thanksgiving of course but we definitely read it all throughout autumn because why not?!
Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn... these books about season transitions are so much fun! I like all of them but Goodbye Autumn, Hello Winter is my favorite since fall and winter are my favorite seasons.
Let it Fall... this one is also a very short and simple rhyming book best for your younger picture book readers but we love it because we love fall. We also have and love Let It Snow.
In November... we love Cynthia Rylant and this one is no exception! This is short and simple but so beautifully written.
A Tale of Two Beasts... this is a just for fun one and it is not about autumn but the illustration show it taking place in autumn. This is a fun story about a little girl who finds a creature and takes it home period The first half of the story is told from the little girls perspective where she sees herself as being so sweet and loving to this creature while the second half is from the creature's perspective and shows all the weirdness the little girl makes him endure, like dressing him in doll clothes and putting him in a dollhouse instead of the woods. It's a fun look at the fact that there are two sides to every story.
We're Going on a Leaf Hunt... This one is ideal for preschoolers. It's repetitive and simple, a fun way to get little readers into the autumn spirit.
Great recommendations! I miss the picture book stage <3
